REACH Candidate List Update: One New Substance Added

ECHA updated the REACH Candidate List on 10 June 2022 to include one new substance.

  • N-(hydroxymethyl)acrylamide (NMA) CAS: 924-42-5

This substance has been added to the Candidate List as it may cause cancer or genetic defects and brings the total number of substances on the Candidate List to 224.

NMA is a chemical intermediate and cross-linking monomer used in the production of other chemicals, polymers, and in binders and adhesives used in paper and textiles.

SCIP Reporting Obligations

All companies manufacturing, selling, or importing products containing an SVHC above 0.1% w/w in EU Member States/EEA countries have an obligation to notify ECHA via the SCIP Database.
